Seah Steelworks Holdings reported a Q2 operating loss of 50.3 billion won, marking a swing from profitability as the company pre-recognized costs associated with offshore wind projects. The consolidated revenue reached 1.17 trillion won, representing a 23.2% increase compared to the same period last year.

Despite the strong revenue growth, the company's profitability was impacted by the early recognition of expenses related to its offshore wind business. This strategic accounting decision reflects the company's commitment to its renewable energy initiatives, though it resulted in a net loss for the quarter.

Seah Steelworks' standalone division performed better, posting 457.7 billion won in revenue with 32.6 billion won in operating profit during the same period. This indicates that while the overall group faced challenges, the core steelworks operations maintained profitability.

The pre-recognition of offshore wind project costs suggests that Seah Steelworks is actively investing in and developing its renewable energy portfolio, positioning itself for future growth in the expanding offshore wind sector despite near-term financial headwinds.
