Supply of Large-Diameter Steel Pipe for Overseas Offshore Wind Projects
Husteel, a steel pipe manufacturing specialist, is securing competitiveness in the offshore wind steel pipe market by participating in large-scale overseas offshore wind power generation projects.
Husteel announced that it completed the supply of approximately 3,000 tons of large-diameter steel pipe for offshore wind use to an overseas offshore wind project on October 12. The product supplied features an outer diameter of 8 meters and a wall thickness of 100 millimeters, and is used in the manufacture of transition pieces, the substructure of offshore wind turbines that serve as the key structural component connecting the wind tower and its base. In particular, the 8-meter outer diameter steel pipe was produced in-house at Husteel's Gunsan plant, and Husteel is the only company capable of manufacturing 8-meter outer diameter pipes without external cooperation from other companies. The Husteel Gunsan plant was completed in June 2025 and is equipped with facilities capable of producing pipes up to a maximum outer diameter of 9 meters and wall thickness of 120 millimeters. This supply represents a major project achievement resulting from Husteel's efforts toward production stabilization and quality assurance following the completion of the Gunsan plant last year, and is significant in that it has secured new business opportunities in the offshore wind sector based on large-diameter thick-wall steel pipe manufacturing capabilities. Beyond this project, Husteel is expanding its position in the relevant market by successively winning orders for domestic and overseas offshore wind projects. Based on this, the company plans to continuously accumulate supply performance for offshore wind steel pipes and strengthen business competitiveness in the global renewable energy market.
