Ørsted has partnered with Youngin Energy Solution on transmission infrastructure design and grid connection for the 1.47GW Incheon offshore wind project.
Ørsted announced on the 28th that it has signed a memorandum of understanding with Youngin Energy Solution, a domestic power infrastructure engineering company, to cooperate in power infrastructure engineering and grid connection for the Incheon offshore wind project.
The agreement was established to strengthen the technical implementation foundation of the Incheon offshore wind project by combining Ørsted's extensive experience in large-scale offshore wind development with Youngin Energy Solution's domestic power grid and engineering capabilities.
Transmission design and grid connection strategy

Under the agreement, the two companies will jointly review and promote transmission infrastructure design and grid connection strategy required for the Incheon offshore wind project. They plan to expand cooperation in grid design and related engineering fields to reliably deliver electricity generated at the offshore wind farm to the onshore power network.
Ørsted is developing the Incheon offshore wind project with a total capacity of 1.47GW in waters approximately 70 kilometers off the Incheon coast. The project consists of phase one at 870MW and phase two at 600MW. The company is currently proceeding with development procedures including environmental impact assessment, site surveys, basic design of the wind farm, and preparation for participation in offshore wind auctions.
Long-term business foundation in Korea
Ørsted is pursuing various optimization measures to secure project competitiveness and establish a long-term business foundation in Korea. Through this cooperation, the company plans to strengthen the technical implementation foundation of the Incheon offshore wind project and contribute to enhancing the competitiveness of the domestic offshore wind engineering ecosystem and supply chain in the long term.
Youngin Energy Solution is expanding offshore wind-related projects based on engineering experience accumulated in the domestic power grid and power infrastructure sectors. The two companies expect to generate synergies during project implementation by combining Ørsted's global offshore wind development experience with Youngin Energy Solution's domestic power grid expertise.
Tae-seung Yoo, Ørsted Korea's representative, said: "This agreement is significant in that it supports stable grid connection for the Incheon offshore wind project by combining the expertise of both companies in power grid design, which is the core of offshore wind farms. We will continue partnerships with domestic companies and communication with relevant agencies while making concrete progress on the business implementation foundation, including licence acquisition and preparation for participation in offshore wind auctions."
Jong-hwa Kim, president of Youngin Energy Solution, said: "We expect great synergy when Ørsted's accumulated global offshore wind experience meets Youngin Energy Solution's domestic power grid expertise. Through this cooperation, we will contribute to enhancing the competitiveness of the domestic offshore wind supply chain."
The Incheon offshore wind project targets completion in the early 2030s if development procedures and Ørsted's final investment decision are completed. Ørsted expects that when the project is completed, it will be able to supply renewable energy equivalent to the electricity consumption of approximately 1.4 million households.
