Rep. Seo Wang-jin has argued that the headquarters of the integrated power generation company, which the government is currently pursuing through the consolidation of five power generation public enterprises, should be established in Naju, South Jeolla Province.
Rep. Seo emphasized that by locating the headquarters in the Honam region, where the country's largest-scale offshore wind projects including the Sinan offshore wind farm are concentrated, the company can effectively promote a portfolio transition centered on renewable energy. He stressed that this strategic location would enable better coordination and accelerate the energy transition process.
In addition to the integration of the five power generation companies, Rep. Seo pointed out that reforms to the power market structure, management of coal asset transition, and principles of just transition should be reviewed concurrently. He highlighted the importance of addressing these structural and policy issues alongside the organizational consolidation to ensure a comprehensive and sustainable energy transition.
