South Korea's National Institute of Standards and Technology has introduced KS certification for RNA (Rotor-Nacelle Assembly), a critical component of large and medium-sized wind turbines, to reduce the certification burden on domestic wind turbine companies and accelerate product commercialization.
The new certification system allows companies to reuse existing certification results when modifying specifications such as tower height, provided they use the same RNA. This approach is expected to significantly reduce duplicate reviews, shorten certification periods, and lower associated costs for manufacturers.
The RNA KS certification application process opened on July 31 and is available through the Korea Energy Agency. This initiative represents a streamlined approach to wind turbine component certification, making it easier and faster for Korean wind energy companies to bring their products to market.
