Hanwha Ocean has commenced construction of a Wind Turbine Installation Vessel (WTIV) to be deployed at the Shinan-Ui offshore wind farm complex. This marks another milestone in the company's expansion into renewable energy sectors.
Hanwha Ocean holds the distinction of having the most WTIV construction experience among domestic Korean shipbuilders, with four vessels completed to date. The company's expertise in specialized offshore wind installation vessels positions it as a key player in South Korea's growing offshore wind industry.
Beyond vessel construction, Hanwha Ocean is broadening its business scope by partnering with Hyundai Engineering & Construction on the Shinan-Ui 390 MW offshore wind farm project. The companies are jointly executing the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contract valued at approximately 1.97 trillion won, demonstrating the company's commitment to comprehensive renewable energy solutions.
Through these initiatives, Hanwha Ocean is accelerating its expansion into the renewable energy sector, moving beyond traditional shipbuilding to establish itself as an integrated offshore wind energy service provider capable of delivering complete project solutions from vessel construction to full-scale wind farm development.
