Key areas of cooperation include grid-forming technology for distribution network support, next-generation intelligent transformers (smart transformers), and grid-connected microgrid technology incorporating black start functionality. The core project, grid-forming technology for distribution network support, is a technology in which inverter-based distributed power sources such as solar, wind and energy storage systems (ESS) independently form the voltage and frequency of the power grid, thereby mitigating distribution network volatility and supporting stable grid operation.
Doosan Fuel Cell secures additional 322.2 billion won fuel cell order
Doosan Fuel Cell announced on the 15th that it has signed a supply contract worth 322.2 billion won for PAFC (phosphoric acid fuel cell) with Hyaxiom, a US subsidiary of Doosan. This represents a reorder within two weeks of a contract worth 501.4 billion won signed earlier this month, bringing the cumulative contract value between the two companies to 823.6 billion won. The products secured in this order will be supplied sequentially to the North American region through Hyaxiom starting in 2028, with Hyaxiom providing engineering, commissioning and LTSA (long-term maintenance and service) support for these products. The company explained that this additional order demonstrates that on-site power generation methods, in which data centers establish their own power generation facilities nearby, are expanding and translating into actual orders.
HD Hyundai leads power infrastructure market with floating power plants
HD Korea Shipbuilding and Offshore Engineering, an intermediate holding company in the shipbuilding division of HD Hyundai, announced on the 15th that it has recently obtained basic approval from the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) for a 100MW-class floating power generation facility. Through this, HD Korea Shipbuilding and Offshore Engineering has secured core technologies including basic conceptual design, electrical single-line diagrams and stability review of floating power generation facilities. Floating power generation facilities use power generation engines to produce electricity at sea and supply it to data centers and industrial complexes where onshore power infrastructure is difficult to establish or where large-scale power demand occurs. The floating power generation facility developed by HD Korea Shipbuilding and Offshore Engineering is based on medium-sized HiMSEN engines and can stably supply up to 100MW of power. HD Korea Shipbuilding and Offshore Engineering plans to make a full entry into the floating power generation facility market after undergoing detailed design and subsequent certification procedures.
Korea District Heating Corporation participates in 2026 Energy Expo
Korea District Heating Corporation announced that it will participate in the 2026 Republic of Korea Energy Expo being held from the 16th for three days at BEXCO Hall 1 in Busan. POSCO Group accelerates payment to suppliers ahead of Chuseok
POSCO Group announced that ahead of the Chuseok holiday, it will accelerate payment of transaction fees totaling 436.8 billion won to suppliers by up to 13 days to ease their financial burden. This is a measure to help trading companies secure smooth cash management and liquidity before the holiday when capital demand concentrates. POSCO and POSCO Flow will accelerate payment of a total of 366 billion won from the 16th to the 23rd to trading companies. POSCO E&C will pay in full in cash on the 17th the 44.8 billion won in transaction fees that were scheduled for payment from the 18th to the 30th.
