Mega Projects Require Timely Power Supply; Offshore Wind Emerges as Large-Scale Clean Energy Alternative
"To advance South Korea's three mega projects, we must secure power at the right time. Offshore wind is the key to supplying large-scale electricity and reducing imported raw materials."
Kim Beom-seok, co-chair of the Offshore Wind Power Committee and professor at Jeju National University, made this statement on October 28 during a keynote address at the 11th 2026 Seoul Future Conference held at the Seoul Shilla Hotel in Jung-gu, Seoul. The forum was titled "Clean Energy Infrastructure Forum: Denmark's Experience, Korea's Innovation." Kim emphasized that "it is crucial above all that businesses receive stable electricity supply at affordable prices."
As investment continues in power-intensive industries such as semiconductors, physical artificial intelligence, and AI data centers, securing power has emerged as a condition that determines national competitiveness. Offshore wind is rising as an alternative to supply large-scale clean electricity.
