The Swedish Trade and Investment Council in Korea held the Korea-Sweden Offshore Wind Supply Chain Cooperation Day on September 22, 2026, at Lotte Hotel Ulsan, jointly with the Swedish Embassy in Korea and the floating offshore wind project Munmu Wind. The event concluded with the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to establish Munmu Wind's core supply chain.

The event was attended by around 150 people, including Carl-Ulof Andersson, Swedish Ambassador to Korea, Jessica Olsson, Korean Representative of the Swedish Trade and Investment Council, Ulsan Mayor Kim Sang-wook, and representatives from related companies including Munmu Wind, Atlas Copco Korea, and Hitachi Energy Korea, as well as public institutions, academia and research organizations.

The agreement was designed to establish a core supply chain cooperation system in three areas: subsea and power cables, offshore wind substructures, and ports and logistics. The plan is to pursue substantive business cooperation by linking Korea's manufacturing, shipbuilding and marine engineering capabilities with Sweden's offshore wind, power and engineering technology.

Led by Hexicon, which participates in Munmu Wind development, Hitachi Energy Korea and Atlas Copco Korea will share technology and experience in project development, power infrastructure, and industrial and engineering solutions.

Supply chain partnerships

In the subsea and power cable sector, cooperation with LS Cable will leverage production and supply capabilities, and address supply chain risks including cable specifications, production and delivery timelines from the design and procurement stages.

In the substructure manufacturing sector, cooperation with GS Entech, a subsidiary of GS Global, will strengthen offshore wind structure manufacturing and supply capabilities by utilizing large-scale structure manufacturing experience and production infrastructure.

In the ports and logistics sector, cooperation with five Ulsan port-based logistics companies—Dongwon LOEX, KCTC, Daewoo Logistics, Esprit Logistics, and Sehwa Shipping—will integrate capabilities in equipment delivery, storage, transport and loading.

Swedish Ambassador Carl-Ulof Andersson said, "We have established a foundation that connects the strengths of Korea and Sweden through actual floating offshore wind projects and supply chain cooperation, and will expand substantive cooperation between companies of both countries."
