The government will conduct a competitive auction for 2.2 GW of offshore wind in the second half of the year. Following 1.8 GW in the first half, the government is expanding the annual auction volume to 4 GW while simultaneously pursuing both expanded offshore wind deployment and lower generation costs.

The Ministry of Climate, Energy and Environment (MCEE), headed by Minister Kim Sung-hwan, announced on October 30 through the Korea Energy Agency (KEA) website the "2026 Second Half Offshore Wind Fixed-Price Contract Competitive Auction."
