Domestic talent development hubs to support the offshore wind industry are being established in sequence in Gunsan, North Jeolla Province, and Mokpo, South Jeolla Province, in line with the expansion of offshore wind deployment. The offshore wind industry support center in Gunsan has exceeded 50 percent completion, and KEPCO KPS is pursuing construction of a separate wind education and training center in Mokpo in partnership with overseas companies.

According to industry sources on October 21, the offshore wind industry support center being pursued by KEA (Korea Energy Agency) is targeting completion in August next year, while the wind education and training center being pursued by KEPCO KPS is targeting completion in December 2028. The offshore wind industry support center being built in the Saemangeum national industrial complex in Gunsan is focusing on safety accident prevention such as high-altitude work, maritime survival, and rescue safety at offshore wind sites, as well as predictive maintenance technology education. It is being constructed with total project costs of 47.7 billion won across a site area of 14,189 square meters. It plans to provide Global Wind Organisation certified safety education as well as technical education including machinery, electrical and hydraulic equipment maintenance, blade repair, and structural inspection.
