Hyosung Heavy Industries has advanced the localization of voltage-source high-voltage direct current (HVDC) equipment that foreign companies have monopolized in the West Sea energy corridor project, which will reshape the nation's power grid.
On October 23, Hyosung Heavy Industries held a progress review meeting on West Sea HVDC localization at the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Jung-gu, Seoul, and disclosed its status in securing core technology for large-capacity transmission networks. The event was held in conjunction with the 26th Hyosung Heavy Industries Technology Innovation Forum and brought together around 100 participants including officials from the Ministry of Climate, Energy and Environment (MCEE), Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO), and academic experts to explore ways to achieve technological independence.
