Pacifico Energy Korea has signed memoranda of understanding (MOUs) with three major companies in the Gwangyang Bay region—EEW KHPC, KMC Shipping, and CS Energy—to accelerate the development of the 3.2GW Jindo offshore wind cluster. This partnership marks a significant step toward establishing a comprehensive domestic supply chain for offshore wind projects in South Korea.
The project prioritizes a domestic-first supply chain strategy, leveraging Korean companies across the entire value chain including wind turbines, substructures, cables, and related components. By utilizing local suppliers and manufacturers, Pacifico Energy Korea aims to strengthen the competitiveness of South Korea's offshore wind industry while creating sustainable employment opportunities in the region.
The Jindo offshore wind cluster development is part of a broader initiative to position Jeollanam-do and Gwangju as a hub for Asia-Pacific offshore wind supply chains. This strategic positioning will help establish the region as a key manufacturing and logistics center for offshore wind energy in the Asia-Pacific region, enhancing Korea's role in the global renewable energy market.
The partnership between Pacifico Energy Korea and these regional companies signals a commitment to balanced regional development, where offshore wind projects contribute not only to energy transition goals but also to local economic growth and energy security for the nation.
